ABSTRACT:
Recent advances and the development in the applications of nanomaterials are summarized. Internationally nano-object is defined as a material having atleast one dimension in the nanoscale (1 nm to 100 nm). European definition describe nanomaterial as a material having one or more dimensions on internal structure exhibiting novel properties compare to the same material without nano scale features. As a matter of fact that the nanotechnology is getting more and more interest due to its extraordinary applications in all fields. The unusual chemical, physical, electrical and optical properties are the reason behind their much importance. In these days, nanomaterials are used due to their various medical applications and thus they facilitate laboratory for diagnostics as well as therapeutics. The vast use of nanoparticles in medical field is due to their unique characteristics and minimum side effects not only in cancer treatment but also for other diseases. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanomaterials were also prepared using different methods and then polymerized including direct modification with polymers as well as by various heterogeneous polymerization methods. They have various applications in biomedical i.e magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), biological separation, and protein immobilization. Besides their medical uses many nanomaterials were prepared and used for the removal of toxic materials. For the preparation of magnetic composite materials, the iron oxide nanoparticles and copper oxide nanoparticles prepared by co-precipitation method. They were mixed with chitosan solution and then polymerized under basic conditions. The product that is obtained, then used as absorbent for metals.
